Last weekend we were joined by members of the Middle-Wyches WI and the Middlewich U3A to help to make Middlewich a tidier place that we can all be proud of.
Over 30 people met up at Town Bridge car park where they split into groups for an hour’s picking at a variety of previously identified areas around Middlewich. This was part of the nationwide “Clean For The Queen” for which we were pleased to have the company of Fiona Bruce MP.

Everyone cheerfully worked hard to improve the appearance of the areas they covered, one example being the garage area near to Cledford Primary School. Incidentaly a number of discarded soda syphon charging capsules were found at this location.

Many areas around town had been identified as being in need of similar attention and we covered most but not all the them so there is plenty more work to do. Some of the teams were caught in action at the following locations:

Town Wharf

 King Street

Warmingham Lane

Footpath Sutton Lane to Barrington Drive

After the hour was up our teams had collected 38 bags of rubbish and were ready for some refreshments kindly provided by Tesco at their Middlewich store.

The aim of the “Clean For The Queen” is to clean up Britain in time for the Queen’s 90th Birthday on 21st April and to this end other nearby areas were also covered by Moston Litter Pickers and the Canal and River Trust.
